WALKING THE WAINWRIGHTS

WALKING ALL 214 WAINWRIGHT PEAKS…

The Wainwrights are a collection of 214 walkable peaks that are found in the Lake District National Park. These peaks were named by local fellwalker and author Alfred Wainwright (1907-1991). Since his passing the peaks and the walks to them have been a huge attraction to the Lake District and every year thousands of walkers of all ages and abilities flock to tackle them, in all weather!

Although I do not live right in the National Park itself, with my closest peak (Coniston Old Man) being less than 45 minutes away from where I live, I live pretty close and definitely have no excuse not to take up this challenge!

As I challenge myself to complete all 214 peaks, I will be sharing the route taken and experiences of each of these walks on this part of the blog! You can follow my journey by checking which peaks I have walked already on the interactive map below. If you click on a completed, green colour pin, you will see a link to the blog post of my guide to walk that peak! You can also find all of my Wainwright Walk posts underneath the map, as well as other related posts to help you walk the routes yourself!
